Importing Document Data:

To load document data to a WarRoom project, you will need a delimited text file in either .DAT or .TXT format. Before attempting to load the data file, it is recommended that you preview it to determine which ASCII delimiter characters were used for the comma, quote and newline.

-The comma character divides values between fields
-The quote character wraps the field value, and only surrounds text fields
-The new line character inserts a line break, only in text fields

Follow these steps to preview your data load file:

  1. Tap the button on the Document list screen and then tap Import Data.
  2. Tap Data Load File to show the list of all .DAT and .TXT data load files that have been copied to the WarRoom Mobile Documents directory via iTunes Sharing.
  3. To preview a data load file, first tap the Edit button and then tap to select documents.
  4. Lastly, click the Preview button. You will be presented with a preview of the first selected data load file. You can swipe left and right to view other selected files.

The first line of the data load file may also contain the field names for the database. You can use this information to create or modify the fields in your database (To do this tap Database Administration > Modify Fields. See the Help section for
“Modifying Fields” for more information on creating and modifying database fields).

Once you have gathered this information and created the corresponding database fields, it is time to begin the data load process.

  1. Tap the button on the Document list screen and then tap Import Data.
  2. Tap Data Load File to show the list of all .DAT and .TXT data load files that have been copied to the WarRoom Mobile Documents directory via iTunes Sharing.
  3. Select a data load file.
  4. Tap Fields To Receive Data to show the list of all the fields available in your database. You will want to select the fields that match the fields in your data load file. Remember that this list needs to be in the exact same order as the field values in the data load file as well. To change the order of the fields, tap the Edit button and drag a field up or down.
  5. Select the correct comma, quote, and newline fields delimiters. These should match the delimiters in your data load file.
  6. If your data load file contains the field names as the first line of text, you should toggle the Ignore First Line switch on.
  7. If your data load file comes from a PC and was saved using ASCII text encoding, toggle the Use ASCII Encoding switch on.
  8. Finally, tap Begin Loading.
